Egyptian singer Hakim is scheduled to hold charity concerts in Italy for the children's cancer hospital that is to be built in Egypt. Hakim will hold performances in Rome and Milan which are sponsored by Egyptian businessman Khairi Hassan who has been living in Milan for the past 25 years.

According to the Egyptian based daily, Al Ahram, Hakim has announced that he will donate the proceeds of his concerts to the children's cancer hospital project in Cairo.

A number of Egyptian singers and actors collected a total of 4 million dirham during two charity concerts held in Dubai in February of this year for the building of the new hospital.

The total cost to build the hospital is around 70 million US dollars. So far a total of 50 million US dollars has been collected over the past two years. Renowned Lebanese singer Majida Al Roumi had also held a charity concert at the Cairo Opera House. The proceeds of Majida's concert were donated to the children's hospital specializing in the treatment of cancer.

Hakim had suddenly decided to terminate all plans for a new film "Hasan El Shater" (Good Hassan), which he was to begin filming. The singer decision came as a surprise, especially since he had made a commitment to dedicate his time completely for the film and has in fact been extremely busy with all the necessary preparations.

Hakim realized that he is neglecting his singing career with all his time going into the making of the film "Hassan Al Shater" and so decided to cancel it altogether in order to dedicate his time and effort to his music. Hakim added that he is currently preparing to begin working on his upcoming new album, which will take up all his time. –Albawaba.com
