A Cairo court has postponed the divorce hearing for Egyptian singer Hakim and his wife Marwa Ibrahim Shaheen until mid-March. The decision was made so as to have sufficient time to sum up the total wealth of the singer in order to decide how much his wife and children are entitled to.

According to the London based Elaph, Marwa has filed a complaint against her husband for not paying child support and alimony since June 2002. she also demanded he pay the wages of five servants in addition to their children's school tuition that amounts to 7100 US dollars.

In the complaint she filed she revealed to the court that her husband's wealth and assets amount to over 30 million Egyptian pounds making him capable of affording any amount she sets.

Hakim's wife filed for divorce in November, following her husband's act of betrayal with his so-called second wife. Marwa expressed resentment to her husband's 'unbearable' acts, which started a year ago with his frequent absence from home. "He used to leave us behind with no money, he showed no attention or care to me or his two kids," explained Marwa.

Hakim had assaulted his wife in a furnished apartment at the upscale neighborhood of Azzamalek, as she walked in on him and his secretary whilst 'in the act', which he later claimed to be his second wife

Following the incident, witnesses confirmed that the singer went on to beat his wife, Marwa, in front of the neighbors after a squabble broke out between the two.

Marwa told the newspaper that she insists on the divorce even if Hakim apologizes in all magazines and newspapers, "my decision is final and I'm not going to give up any of my legal rights, which might amount to one million pounds in financial compensation," said Marwa. – Albawaba.com
