The administration committee of the Arabic Music Festival announced its intention on honoring prominent Egyptian singer Hani Shaker and the late Laila Murad. the award ceremony will be held on November 18 at the Cairo Opera House, marking the festival’s 14th round.

The festival will also be honoring a number of prominent singers from around the Arab world, especially ones who have made a difference in the music industry and presented real art, unlike the new singers out today.

on a different note, Hani made a public announcement in Canada that “The music Egyptian singer Ruby and others of her kind present is not considered real art, but rather nonsense and against all Arab ethical standards.”

“Ruby’s music is a distraction that lacks meaning…. and merely a provocative way to attract and seduce people,” he added.

Hani made these remarks during the press conference he held at the end of his tour around the USA and Canada. This tour marks Hani’s return to Canada after a five year absence.

Hani stated that such cheap music has a short lifespan and will be quickly forgotten. These singers will never be recognized for their true talent, he continued.

Hani stressed that the popularity of such singers is spreading rapidly because their music videos are marketed on international channels to generate a quick profit.

Hani also asserted that singers like Haifa Wahbi insult women and ruin their image as mothers, sisters and wives.
