Hannan Turk and the desire to die
City Stars cinema house in Egypt held a private screening of the film “Al Hayat Muntaha Al Litha” (Life is the extreme Desire) on November 28, and the film will be distributed to other cinema houses on December 1.
The film was scheduled to be screened at the Cairo Cinema Festival first, but producers preferred to screen it commercially the day beforehand.
According to the London based Elaph, the film stars young Egyptian actors Hannan Turk and Muna Shalabi, and for the first time Lebanese singer Yuri Imrakadi.
The film was previously titled “Muntaha Al Litha” (Extreme Desire) but was later changed to include the word “Life” in small letters.
The promotional campaign for the film states that the plot revolves around complex psychological and social issues like adultery and intimate relationships between couples. The end the film presents a new meaning to ‘Desire’ which is the ‘Desire of Death’.
Hannan and Yuri recently appeared on the weekly program “Our Home is Your Home” on Egyptian television to discuss the film. The two expressed their grief over the loss for the late Syrian director Mustafa Al Akkad in the recent Jordan bombing, who was supposed to attend the special screening of their film.
The Fourteenth Annual Cairo Cinema Festival will honor Hannan and singer Mohammad Muneer for their outstanding performances in the film “Dunia” (World).
The organizing committee of the festival made their decision before the film’s screening, scheduled for December 3.
Muneer decided to enter the acting world once more in “Dunia,” written and directed by Joe Sileen Saab. In the film, Muneer portrays the role of a singer/poet who meets a young lady played by Hannan. She decides to leave her family to pursue her dream of performing in Cairo.
