The Nubian singer Hassan Abdel Magid will travel in the middle of this month to Milano, Italy to hold several concerts in view of the interests of the community there in his songs style, according to the Egyptian daily Al Messa.
Meanwhile, Abdel Magid cancelled his trip to New York where he was scheduled to hold Nubian concerts because of the recent terrorist attacks in New York and Washington.
“The Nubian singing has recently taken its position in Egypt after it had almost disappeared. I was determined to continue with this singing in collaboration with my late colleagues Ahmed Munib and Ali Kobanah,” Abdel Magid told the daily.
He added, “I hope the Egyptian TV would produce new episodes on the Nubian song and that these wouldn’t be just dialogues for spending time but rather like what the foreign TV channels try to do by going deeply inside this type of singing to explore its origin and how it developed until it has reached its present form.”
Commenting on acting, the artist said, “I actually think about it but through singing specially the Nubian singing which I am devoting now my art career for it in order to lay its foundation and go up with it.”
Abdel Magid recorded his life history at a satellite channel starting in 1990 with the song Tigi Wea’younek and including the songs Rayeg, Samira, Hawadito and Ya Farah. The singer is trying to obtain a copy of the program to present it to the Egyptian TV -- Albawaba.com
