Prominent Egyptian actor Hind Rustom has turned down an offer of twenty five thousand dollars to appear as a guest on a Lebanese satellite television program, stating that she does not enjoy television interviews.
According to the UAE based daily, Al Bayan, Hind justified her decision by stating that she does not feel it is appropriate for her to reveal her personal matters to millions of people.
“Such television programs only show an interest in artists’ life stories in order to dig up dirt on them,” stated Hind.
Hind recently declined a generous offer from producer Mohammad Fawzi to star in a new television drama series, stressing that she does not intend to return to acting.
Hind turned down an invitation received by Egyptian belly dancer Fifi Abdo to attend a special party held in her home. Hind expressed her regret to Fifi for not being able to attend and congratulated her for her last television drama “Al Hakika Wal Surab,” which witnessed success around the Arab world.
Hind’s last public appearance was at the graduation ceremony of her grandson Mohammad from the American University of Cairo.
Regarding Lebanese singer Haifa Wahbi imitating her role as the character Hanouma, in the movie ‘Bab al-Hadid Hind’, (The Iron Door) she said that she does not mind, as long as it helps the imitator’s career.
