In a rare instance of its kind Egyptian actor Hisham Abdul Hamid assaulted Egyptian actress Wafa Amer in front of a live audience during the screening of the play “Jawaz ala wraket Talak” (Marriage on a Divorce Paper). The actor hit Wafa during one of the scenes of the play and the incident was also filmed by one of the television channels to be broadcasted to more audience.
According to the Qatar based daily, Al Raya, Wafa filed charges against the actor for his uncalled for attitude and stressed that Hisham purposely knocked her to the ground by stepping on the tip of her dress and then managed to keep her voice from being heard by people while she was calling for help.
Wafa swore that she will never again act alongside Hisham even if she was paid one million dollars per minute. The actress also revealed that she never had anything against Hisham before and did not create barriers between him and the rest of the cast of the play. She added that Hisham had always treated everyone in an unprofessional way by wanting the spotlight to be focused on him alone disregarding everyone else.
On his part, Hisham tried to clear his name from the incident by stating that the there were tension between him and Wafa which had building up from the past few days. He added that during one of the love scenes, which the incident occurred in, Wafa was supposed to act her part by looking straight into his eyes, but she did not and kept looking away. Hisham said that he pulled her hand to make her look in his direction but she didn’t and tried twice the third time accidentally pulling her by force. At this point he stressed that Wafa walked off stage and they had to cut the scene short. –Albawaba.com
