Hussein Fahmi, an advisor to UN Secretary General

Prominent Egyptian actor Hussein Fahmi, who is a UN Goodwill Ambassador, sent a special request to United Nations Secretary General Kofi Anan to ask his permission to make reference to him in his new television drama “Al Sharid.” (The deserter)

 

According to the UAE based daily, Al Khaleej, in the drama Hussein plays the role of an advisor to the UN Secretary General who is faced with a conspiracy against him by a Jewish lobby, fueled by his Arab and Muslim identity.

 

His character begins to suffer from Alzheimer's disease, forcing him to resign his position.

 

Hussein made a number of visits to private psychiatrists to gain first hand knowledge about Alzheimer's disease and its effects on the behavior of patients, in order to prepare for his upcoming role.

 

The drama, written by Mahdi Yousif and directed by Mohammad Abdul Aziz, costars Sawsan Murad and Syrian actress Jumana Murad, and will be filmed at the ‘Media Production City.’
