Iranian and Indian film delegations will be the special highlights of the third Dhofar Arab Film Forum, which will take place in Salalah from August 15 to 20.
A glittering opening ceremony will be held on the first day of the film forum where a six-person Iranian delegation will be honoured by the executive heads and members of the Oman Film Society (OFS), which is the host organisation.
Guests at the opening night will be able to watch some top Iranian films and be able to meet and interact with the Iranian delegation, out of which three will be visiting film directors and the other three will be members of the Iranian consulate in Oman.
Day two will include the screening of films from both Iran and Oman and a symposium highlighting Omani and regional cinema at the Dhofar University. Apart from this, guests from all over the Middle East, who are coming to the forum, will be taken for a tour of the scenic Salalah city on the same day.
Film screenings from Oman, Iran, India and the rest of the Middle East will be on schedule for the remaining days, including another symposium being held at the Dhofar University, also involving its students.
A major highlight of this forum is the Khareef (monsoon) season in Salalah, which draws tourists from all over the Arab world and beyond at this time of the year. The itinerary for guests is planned in such a way that it covers major landmarks in the city.
The last two days of the forum will include the presence of a south Indian delegation, in the presence of which films from India will be screened for all the visitors at the forum’s venues. A closing ceremony will also be held on the eve of the last day of the festival where awards will be presented to the winners. A major highlight of the closing ceremony will be the screening of top films from the south Indian film industry.
More details on the event venues, films and the visiting delegations will be announced close to the event dates.
