For the first time since 1990, the Iraqi singer Muhannad Mohsen will participate in the 16th Ginadria festival to be held in Saudi Arabia this month.

Sources at the organizing committee told the press that Mohsen would take part in the festival opening ceremony on the 23rd of this month along with other Arab singers in an operetta about the Arab history.

Mohsen will sing the part designated to him about the Iraqi capital Baghdad under the Abbasi regime in the year 800. The operetta poems were written by the Saudi poet Ghazi Al Qosaibi, Saudi ambassador to Britain and it was composed by the Saudi artist Mohammed Abdo.

The Palestinian issue will be the key topic for the Ginadria festival this year, which will continue for two days. The festival will also include lectures on the Arab Israeli conflict delivered by a number of Arab scholars -- Albawaba.com
