Egyptian director Hani Ismael has selected a neighborhood in Old Egypt to be a site for shooting the outdoor scenes of his new series Wa Hallaqat al Tuyour Nahwa al Sharq (and birds flew towards east) scripted by Liwaa Mukhtar Ezziddin.
Costarring in the series are Fathi Abdel Wahhab, Ahmed Khalil, Noorhan, Khaled Zaki and Huda Sultan.
The director chose to shoot the outdoor scenes at the historical place opposite Mar Guirguis Church because the area looks like Jerusalem old neighborhoods.
“My choice of some places for shooting the series has drastically cut the costs and it came after I reviewed a thesis for Masters degree on buildings and comparison between them in Old Egypt neighborhood and some neighborhoods in occupied Jerusalem,” Isamel told the UAE daily al Bayan.
He added, “the series cast will head early next month to Jordan to shoot some outdoor scenes at sites which resemble to a big extent some places in Tel Aviv.
The series is based on the archives of the Egyptian intelligence, which succeeded in implanting Mustafa and Madiha inside the Israeli society through substituting them for an immigrant from the former Soviet Union and his wife. The Egyptian intelligence utilized the influx of groups of Soviet Jews to the alleged homeland in incorporating their agents into the Israeli society for the purpose of collecting information on the Israeli airports and air bases.” -- Albawaba.com
