Jomanah Murad plays ‘Asmahan’

Director Mustafa Al Shaal has nominated the Syrian actress Jomanah Murad for the role of the late singer ‘Asmahan’ on the television drama series “Farid Al Atrash.”

 The music artist Majd Al Qasem will play the role of the late legendary singer Farid Al Atrash, who is also Asmhan’s brother. Al Qasem is meeting with the director to finalize the details of the series.

Jomanah is the second Syrian actress to play the role of Asmahan in a television drama series.  The director said that Jomanah resembles Asmahan.

 Filming is scheduled to start around the New Year and will be aired next Ramadan season.

 Jomanah also stars in a comedy-drama series currently being aired, called “Haik Tjawazna” (This is How We Got Married). The series was written by Mazen Taha, directed by Amar Radwan and produced by ‘Art Production Company.’

 The series includes 30 episodes.  In each episode two couples are married by the end of the program.

 A number of Syrian actors star in the series, like Solaf Fawakhrji, Basem Yakhour, Karis Bashar, and Ayman Rida.
