Julia Roberts is the most powerful actress in Hollywood, and the third most powerful woman in the entertainment industry, the Hollywood Reporter said Monday.
Paramount Pictures president Sherry Lansing remained at the top of the Reporter's list of the most influential women in entertainment, the journal said in its ninth annual Women in Entertainment: Power 50 special issue.
Roberts was the first actress named to the list of the 50 most influential women in the motion picture, TV, music and other entertainment industries.
In second place was ,Stacey Snider, chair of production at Universal Pictures.
The list, which ranks women in entertainment "who have the power to change the direction of their companies or affect the industry's future," will be unveiled Tuesday December 5.
Roberts' 20-million-dollar price tag makes her the highest-paid female actor in the industry, the Reporter said.
The 33-year-old actress' "ability to turn a small project into a mainstream commercial vehicle and to help secure financing for major production companies gives her unprecedented clout for an actress," the paper said.
Michele Anthony, executive vice president of Sony Music, and CBS Entertainment president Nancy Tellem round out the list's top five places.
The trade journal noted that more female executives hold the rank of chairman and president at major entertainment companies than at any time in history.
Women execs run "nearly half of the major film studios as well as the entertainment divisions of many of the major broadcast and cable television networks," the Reporter said. – AFP.
