Prominent Iraqi singer Kathem El Saher has chosen Egyptian actress Hanan Turk for the leading role in his upcoming music video “Ahibini” (Love Me), which is written by the late renown Lebanese poet Nizar Qabani. The song is from his latest album “Ila Tilmethuh” (To His Student), which is scheduled to be released during the Muslim Eid Al Fitr holiday.
According to the London based daily, Al Hayat, Hanan expressed her honor at being chosen by such a renown singer stressing that Kathem’s songs are so rich with meaning that the words of his songs come straight from the heart. The clip will be filmed as a short movie that holds a patriotic and romantic theme to it revolving around two lovers who attempt to meet one another but certain circumstances makes their meeting close to impossible. The song will be filmed between Cairo and Dubai under the direction of Jordanian director Hussein Du’aibis.
On a similar note, El Saher and Egyptian singer Hani Shaker have chosen a new song, by poet Mohammad Bin Aboud, to be performed as a duet, marking their first cooperation together. Both singers are currently rehearsing the song and plan on filming it in the form of a music video to be aired on different Arabic music satellite channels in the very near future.
Kathem announced that he will postpone the release of his upcoming album until the end of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan. The singer revealed that he has come to this decision due to the fact that releasing his album now, which was the previous plan, will negatively affect its success.
Kathem added that he felt the best time for the release would be during the Muslim holiday Eid Al Fitr. Kathem handed in the master copy of his latest album since July but Rotana had been constantly delaying the release.
The new album features ten new songs that vary in style and genre, in addition to patriotic song in which the singer expresses his true feelings about the current situation in Iraq under the occupation of Allied forces. –Albawaba.com
