Upon completion of a number of performances around the Arab world at different festivals, Iraqi singer Kathem El Saher announced that he will be touring the United States of America with all proceeds going in support of the Iraqi children. His tour is sponsored by Al Sharq Arab television and radio station, based in the US.
His tour begins on February 28 in New York taking him to Detroit, Chicago, California, and ending in San Diego reported the London based Elaph. The singer is looking forward to performing for the Arab population in the US and hopes his tour will mark a success.
After his huge success in Dubai, El Saher was accused of buying out the tickets for his performance and passing them out to people in order to ensure a large number of audience at his concert. Kathem denied such rumors saying if it were true he would be penniless, adding he would never stoop so low as to jeopardize his reputation. The singer also noted that a number of other nonsense has been spreading about him by people who are ill-minded and have nothing to do with their time. In response to everything that has been said, Kathem stressed that he does not give a second thought about lies spread and is confident that his fans stand behind him all the way.
On a different note, Kathem confessed in a TV interview that he will never allow his sons to take on the profession of singing and follow in his footsteps. Kathem's remarks came from the fact that being a singer means instability. To him a singer cannot devote his time to his family and is not always there.
Kathem wants his sons to have stable jobs that do not require them to always be on the move and traveling from one country to the next. He wishes they find 9 to 5 jobs that give them time to spend with their families and have live real lives.
With regards to how Kathem feels when the press writes about his personal life, he said that he does not allow anyone to interfere in his life and respects those who do not talk about family affairs to the public. He added that every home has its own secrets and they should be kept that way.
The Iraqi singer released his new album in June entitled “Qissat Habibain” (two lovers story). In this album he offers 12 songs that cover all forms of sung words including poem, Mawwal and pop song. - Albawaba.com
