Kuwaiti Director Takes Part in Muscat and Teheran Festivals’ Juries
Kuwaiti director and film producer Khaled al Seddiq will participate as jury member in Teheran International Film Festival, Fajr, and Muscat second Film Festival, upon an invitation extended to him by organizers of the two festivals.
The jury of the Dawn Festival expected to be launched early next February for 10 days in the Iranian capital Teheran will comprise of along with Siddiq the Sri Lanky director Lester James Peres. This is in addition to the Swedish writer and director Benkt Forcelanood, former head of Berlin International Film Festival, Mauretz Dihadlen and the former Iranian international photographer Dariosh Khanji.
Along with al Siddiq, the second Muscat Film Festival jury comprises of the Arab British critic Mohammed Ridha as head, and the Egyptian cinema academician Madkour Thabet, French director and head of Nant Continental Festival Phillip Glado, Syrian actress Muna Wasef and Omani poet Zaher al Ghaferi as members.

Tehran festival will screen Kuwaiti films directed by Siddiq, the first Kuwaiti who achieved a unique international reputation as far as his work and capabilities are concerned.
Two years ago, Siddiq participated in the Arab Film Festival in Paris as head of jury.
It is noteworthy to mention that Kuwait produced only four narrative films including the 1971 black and white film Bass Ya Bahar (Enough! Sea), 1980 al Samt (Silence) and the 1995 film Shahin. These three films were directed by Siddiq while the fourth one, the 1977 film Ors al Zein (Wedding of the Beautiful) based on the novel of the Sudanese writer, al Tayyeb al Saleh, was directed by Hashem Mohammed – Albawaba.com
