Laila Elwi in the Devil’s Garden
Egyptian scenarist Mohammed Safa Amer announced that he reached an agreement with prominent Egyptian actress Laila Elwi for her to play the leading role of “Qamar” in his upcoming television drama “Hada’eq Al Shaitan” (The Devil’s Garden).
Mohammad revealed that he wrote the role of “Qamar” especially for Laila, stressing that it is impossible for any other actress to play the part.
According to the UAE based daily, Al Bayan, Laila’s image in the drama will go through four different phases, requiring a look for each phase. Prominent Egyptian actor Yousef Shabaan will play the leading male protagonist, “Munther,” an evil man who sets his designs on destroying “Qamar.” The story then revolves around Qamar’s vengeance against him.
On a similar note, Egyptian producer Sami Al Adel announced his plans to begin shooting a new film titled “Youm Wahid Fil Shaher” (One Day in a Month), also on the condition that Laila plays the leading role.
The story of the film revolves around the first day of every month, which is payday for most people, and the different attitudes and emotions felt by the recipients on that much anticipated day.
Laila recently survived a car accident during a visit to Morocco that has given her a new perspective on life. The actress nearly lost her life, and explained that a miracle had saved her and the other passengers.
