Prominent Egyptian actress Laila Elwi has been nominated for a leading role in the upcoming film “Al Ahramat bi laon al Mafia” (The Pyramids in the Color of the Mafia) alongside internationally renown actor John Paltro.
The film revolves around the destruction of historical monuments in Egypt, and the life of one woman who is seeking the remains of her lost lover who died during WWII.
Filming of the Egyptian and Swedish production will take place in a number of Swedish villages and historical sights in Egypt. The film’s budget has been set at 11 million US dollars to accommodate the on-location filming.
Laila is currently taking part in the Ramadan television drama series “Nour Al Sabah” (Morning Light).
Laila plays the role of a woman who is faced with a divorce and must drastically change her life in order to support herself.
Laila denied circulating rumors that she intends on resigning from the cinema after the crisis she faced with her latest film “Bahib El Cima” (I Love the Cinema).
Laila also asserted that she is not romantically involved with a man who has asked for her hand in marriage on the condition that she resigns from the cinema. Laila stressed that the thought of resigning never occurred to her.
It has been rumored that Laila is involved with one of the wealthiest men in the Arab world.
