Egyptian actress Laila Olwi is currently gearing up for shooting the new feature film Thahaba al Lail (The Night Has Gone) which depicts the homeless children issue.

The film, which is scripted and directed by Essam Shammaa, tackles the reasons behind the phenomenon of homeless children and the way to solve the problem from both social and cultural aspects.

The head of the Egyptian TV Production Department, Medhat Zaki told the daily al Gomhuria that the idea behind producing such a huge film comes from the Egyptian first lady Suzan Mubarak’s interest in taking care of the homeless children.

“Laila Olwi has agreed to play the starring role in the film which portrays a unique human experience that sheds light on the real reasons behind this problem which threatens the security of the society,” added Zaki.

The filming of Thahaba al Lail will start as soon as Shammaa finishes the editing of the new TV series Ragol Minn Zaman al Awlama (A Man in the Globalization Time) – Albawaba.com
