Sources have revealed that Tunisian singer Latifa did not steal the rights to the song “Khalouni” (Leave Me), originally written and composed by the late Dahman Al Harashi.
Latifa’s last album was released in 2003. A year later she released the song “Khalouni” as a single that was subsequently included in an album that featured the best of Latifa’s songs.
Latifa never claimed to have the rights to the song, and made it a point to credit Dahman as the writer and composer of the song in her music video.
Latifa had received permission from the late composer’s family before recording the song and filming the accompanying video, reported the Qatar based daily, Al Raya, clearing her of any inappropriate action.
On a different note, Latifa has denied rumors that she placed a five thousand dollar stipulation for her participation in any television program, stating she would never consider selling her appearance.
Latifa noted that she has refused to appear as a guest on a number of television shows, since many hosts attempt to publicly humiliate singers by exposing the problems they face.
Recently, Latifa was the guest of honor at the 25th Arab Children Congress (ACC) in Amman Jordan, alongside internationally renowned singer Ricky Martin.
During the event, organized by the Noor Al Hussein Foundation Performing Arts Centre, Latifa gave a lecture titled “Cultural Heritage as the key source for Excellence” to the different international missions.
