A lawsuit against Asala

The composer Helmi Baker has filed a lawsuit against the famous Syrian artist Asala Nasri for singing the song “Ma Qoltilish Min Al Awel Leh” (Why didn’t you tell me from the beginning).
Baker claims that he composed the song 14 years ago and Asala has no right to sing and perform the song without his consent.
Asala remixed the song, making only minor changes, said Baker.
Asala initially performed the song in 1998 with an orchestra and now she is singing it with local groups without his consent, said Baker.
On other grounds, Asala will participate with the Algerian artist Shab Khaled in a musical event in Las Vegas. All proceeds from the event will be donated to Arab children in need of medical care.
“I am happy to be part of giving to the future generations that will lead the world one day,” said Asala.
