Jordanians are in for a fascinating experience, as British renowned soprano Sara Brightman is set to perform in Amman alongside the Iraqi vocalist Kathem Al Sahir on September 1st.
Brightman along with Al Sahir will sing at the Roman Amphitheatre in downtown Amman in the framework of Souk Ukaz 2003 cultural activities.
"Brightman is looking forward to her performance in Jordan. She was very receptive when we asked her to take part in the festival,” said the director of Souk Ukaz, Iman Hindawi, according to the Jordan Times.
Hindawi added that Brightman has a genuine interest in the Arab world and Arabic music. “Her latest CD 'Harem' uses Arabic rhythms and melodies, revealing a true interest in the Arab world,” he said.
"She also used Arabic music in previous performances, mixing Western and eastern melodies."
The beautiful soprano, who has sold more than 15 million records, has enchanted audiences from all over the world.
After breaking from a potent theatrical career alongside ex-husband Andrew Lloyd Webber, Brightman decided to enter an entirely new world, and she has done so with much success, captivating the hearts of millions.
"We do not know how many songs she is planning to perform next week but we know she will present the hit 'The war is over,' along with Al Sahir," Hindawi added.
"We are providing an opportunity to those that cannot afford to travel and attend such concerts a chance to see them by bringing top-notch performers here."
Souk Ukaz is scheduled to open in Amman on September 1st, featuring such international talents as French Tunisian diva Amina Annabi, Lebanese singer Hanine and her band “Son Cubano,” and Rai legend Cheb Mami. (Albawaba.com)
