Lina Ogaili creates designer art
Driven by her passion for paintings, Iraqi artist Lina al-Ogaili, who is a renowned member of the Emirates Society for Fine Arts in the UAE, creates artworks with pure imagination that roots back to her childhood.
Ogaili was born to both architect parents in 1973 in Iraq and grew up in a house full of art masterpieces by recognized Iraqi artists. This environment created a venue for the artist to begin her art career. Ogaili graduated with a diploma of fine arts and design from the Chelsea College of Art in 1993 and in 1996, she received a BA in Interior Design from the University of Kingston, both institutions located in Britain.
“My first painting in which I genuinely articulated myself freely was the result of moments of spontaneity, and somehow I was able to express my nostalgia,” said Ogaili.
Having finished studies from both fine arts institutions, Ogaili gained the confidence to create designs touched by graphic techniques that have help her create her own plateau of artistry.
“My artistic style in particular went through various phases until it matured and combined themes, space, calligraphy and color, leaving the viewers’ imagination to run free,” explained the artist.
Ogaili’s works are known for the intricate combination of mass and space that have been designed in such a way that viewers would see the extraordinary bond on the overlapping technique to colors. The shades used in her artworks marked her persona in the world of art, hailing her as one of the best in the field.
“I consider all artists to be designers and vice versa,” said Ogaili, explaining how graphic could relate well with traditional art.
