Loutfi Bouchnak was born in Tunis in 1954 and has one of the most beautiful voices you can hear today in Morocco, according to Khaleej.com.

He is a singer, lutist and composer, and his repertory is basically classical Arab music -- a repertoire that is sadly overlooked by most musicians these days, says Khaleej.com. Musicians tend to go for the simpler "chansonnettes," rather than songs that call for a more elaborate performance.

Bouchnak, in contrast, has a passion for rummaging around antique dealerships and old record shops. He spends his life digging up old Arab songs that most people have forgotten -- songs like those of Sayyed Darwish (1892-1923), Zakariya Ahmad (1886-1961) and Salah Abdel Hay (1896-1962). Thanks to his powerful voice, with its wide range, and his capacity for interpretation, Bouchnak has conquered the hearts of the most demanding of Arab music lovers.

He has performed in major international concert halls: Carthage and Hammamet (Tunisia), Jerash (Jordan), the Cairo Opera house, the Arab Institute in Paris, China and so on, making him a veritable ambassador of Tunisian and Arab culture the world over – Albawaba.com
