Hot on the heels of their Dec. 22 wedding, it's been reported that Madonna and British film director Guy Ritchie will be doing more than living together, they'll be working together, too.

The Material Girl will take the lead role in Ritchie's latest gangster film, called The Mole, according to a report in British tabloid The Mirror.

"She plays an American girl who comes to England and is caught up in an underworld battle where the hunt is on to find a police informer in one of the gangs," a production insider on the movie told the paper.

She and then-hubby Sean Penn co-starred in the 1987 flop Shanghai Surprise, which earned them both plenty of jabs from snickering critics.

Madonna, 42, and Ritchie want to work together to avoid the pressure of having separate job commitments, according to The Mirror. Ah, the things we do for love.

Ritchie, 32, is making a specialty out of gangster comedies, his 1999 debut, Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels, was a hit on both sides of the Atlantic, while his latest movie, Snatch, is aiming to spread its success Stateside with its mid-January release.

Madonna's most recent feature was The Next Best Thing, which failed to make much of an impact on moviegoers. The performer fared much better with her new dance-pop album, Music, which has topped the charts around the world.

The Mole will be based in London, where the couple owns a home, and filming could start in March, the paper said.

But the report does not mean that the honeymoon is over, the newlyweds are keeping out of the public eye at Sting's 52-acre estate in southern England. – Albawaba.com.
