Brits are willing to pay nearly $1400 dollars to see Material Mom Madonna in concert, reported ABC online.
Bids for tickets to her exclusive performance Tuesday, November 28, at London’s Brixton Academy have shot through the roof since going on the block Friday evening.
The venue, which holds around 4,000 people, is hosting the singer’s first UK show in seven years, and tickets have been hard to come by, available only through a variety of Web site and radio station contests.
Charity site WembleyTV acquired two tickets and offered them in a free-for-all at online auction site QXL.com. After several initial bids of relatively modest proportions, the bidding swelled through the weekend until several people offered more than 900 pounds for each ticket, or $2,700 total for the pair.
Madonna is said to be planning on performing songs from her latest best selling album, Music, backed by an all-star band that includes former Verve frontman Richard Ashcroft, Prodigy’s Liam Howlett, and Texas.
“This is a chance to get my feet wet onstage again and a way to say thank you to an intimate group of fans for all their support over the years,” she said last month, when the show was announced.
For those stuck on the outside of the party, there is some hope. The Microsoft Network has rigged the venue with 20 cameras, in the hopes of creating the biggest concert Web cast to date, to air live at 3 p.m. EST and available for rebroadcast later. – Albawaba.com.
