Singer clashes with his composer and faces the Iraqi music
Lawsuits and Iraqi titan clashes do not prevent Majed al Mohandes from playing his funky music, as he battles on to release his next album. Iraqi superstar Majed Al Mohandes is facing a lawsuit filed against him by Iraqi composer Jafar Al Khafaf.
Al Khafaf has struck out at Majed for allegedly swiping three compositions off his latest album “Ana Wayak” (Me and You) – which was more ‘Me’ than 'You' as far as the bitter composer is concerned- without obtaining the legal rights to them.
Jafar complains that the pinched songs are “Baidha Al Rouh min Hubak Jariha” (The Soul is Still Wounded by Your Love), “Khasartak Ya Habeebi” (I Lost You My Love) and “Bain Al Asir Wal Maghrib” (Between Mid-Day and Sunset). Jafar was adamant that Majed omitted any credit to him, instead simply attributing the songs to Iraqi folklore.
In spite of teething pains and legal wrangling, ‘Rotana’ is pressing ahead to get the album out “Ana Wayak” in the next few days.
