Egyptian director Samir Saif has convinced Zaki Fatin Abdel Wahab, singer Laila Murad’s son, to cooperate with him to shoot a film on the life history of the late singer.
“I started the preparations for this film few years ago, but Abdel Wahab rejected it because he has also been preparing for another film, as he has exceptional records in which his mother described her art life and memories with her contemporaries. Finally, Abdel Wahab agreed to cooperate with me to shoot one film,” Saif told the London based daily al Sharq al Awsat.
“I have chosen Lebanese singer Majeda al Roomi to play Laila Murad as I saw that she was the best to play the role of the renowned singer,” said the director adding that Roomi’s profile and voice qualify her to play the role. This is in view of the fact that the performance includes a number of songs, which need a competent singer.
The Egyptian actor Samir Sabri has been nominated to play Anwar Wagdi after his success in playing that role in the series Umm Kulthoom.
Earlier the Egyptian actress Yusra played Laila Murad in a radio series aired by the Youth Broadcasting Service during Ramadhan two years ago.
Meanwhile, al Roomi is gearing up for the starring role of a new film entitled Qissat Hobb (Love Story) along with the Egyptian film star Ahmed Zaki – Albawaba.com
