Marcel Khalifah Donates ‘al Andalus Concerto’ Proceeds to Palestine
Lebanese singer Marcel Khalifah announced that he had allocated the proceeds from his new album Concerto al Andalus for the Palestinian people, according to the London based Arabic daily al Sharq al Awsat.
The announcement came during the ceremony of signing the album contract at the Virgin Compound in Beirut where he sang number of his songs along with Umaimah Khalil. Khalifa started the ceremony with a song dedicated to Mohammed al Dorrah and then sang Ajmal al Ommahat (Most Beautiful Mother) and Ya Hadi al Eis. Umaimah al Khalil sang Ahmed al Arabi with the tunes of the lute, which was the feature’s key instrument.
Khalifah did forget to promote his new album produced by Nagham Cultural Corporation. The album encompasses music pieces and terza merzas based on poems by Mahmoud Darwish, al Hallaj and Adonis.
“The new CD revives the memory of the beautiful era in al Andalus with its creativity, culture and art and after which the Arabs lost never won any battle,” said Khalifah -- Albawaba.com
