A Dubai’s appeals court has decided on February 1 to be the hearing date in the lawsuit against Lebanese singer Maria, Melody music channel, and director Jad Shwairi.
The trial is over the fact that Maria has recently released a new music video that contains scenes not appropriate for the average viewers and is extremely provocative.
According to the UAE based daily, Al Bayan, lawyer Essa Bin Haydar had filed the lawsuit against Melody for airing such a vulgar clip “Tikdib Alia” (You Are Lying to Me), stressing that it contains sexual scenes that are unfit for Arab viewers, and is against all ethical values and tradition.
On a different note, Maria is searching for a male singer to sing a new duet with her after Lebanese singers Wael Kfoury and Ragheb Alama turned her down. Wael and Ragheb had based their refusal to sing with Maria on the fact that they do not consider her a real singer, but rather a performer.
Ragheb denied circulating rumors that he intends to pair up with Maria to sing the duet.
