Maria forced off stage
In an unusual instance of its kind, Lebanese singer Maria, known as the Corn Flakes singer, was put in a very humiliating situation as she was forced to stop her concert in Dream Park Cairo and was taken off stage in front of her audience. Head of the Egyptian Musician Association ordered her removal off stage due to the fact that she was holding a concert without obtaining a permit.
The situation had gotten worse when the singer was taken to the police station and had charges pressed against her for repeatedly taking part in different entertainment activities and singing in nightclubs around Egypt illegally, reported the London based daily, Al Sharq Al Awsat.
Maria has denied recent circulating rumors in one of the magazines that she is purposely promoting smoking in her latest music video “Ibtikdib Alai” (You Lie to Me). It was stated that the fact that Maria appears holding a cigarette in her hand in the clip is the biggest proof that she is encouraging the idea of smoking.
Maria stressed that she never had the intention of promoting smoking in the clip, but on the contrary, adding that those who criticized her and began throwing accusations should have paid more attention to the next scene where she is seen coughing from the cigarette smoke. Maria added that she had thrown the cigarette on the ground to show that she has no desire to smoke.
The singer added that she considers smoking a bad habit and people, whether old or young, should stay away from it. Maria, who is known by the title Maria Corn Flakes, portrays the role of a very active and enthusiastic schoolgirl in her clip, who is always playing around and is very spoiled.
