Director Khaled Yousef has finally wrapped up the shooting of his film Gawaz Biqarar Gomhuri (Marriage By Presidential Decree) after a stop-and-go relationship with Egypt's censors and injured cast members.
Shooting was halted for the first time due to the censors’ rejection of a scene in which the two stars invite the president to attend their wedding party.
After that dispute had been settled, the film’s star, Hanan Turk, suffered a foot injury. After that, the film’s other star, Hani Ramzi, was tripped up by his commitment to his new play, in addition to chronic problems between the writer and director.
The latest delay has been due to a back injury suffered by actress Sanaa Younes, who plays the role of Ramzi’s mother.
She develop the problem during the shooting of scenes at Kalaat Al Kabsh, when she slipped and was rushed to the hospital where she stayed for two days.
Doctors advised Younes to wear a support belt, limit her movements and receive physiotherapy treatment. This also prompted her to postpone rehearsals for the play Adilah at the Youth Theater, in which she takes the starring role - Albawaba.com
