Maya Nasri and a talk from the heart in Beirut

Lebanese singer Maya Nasri granted Elaph a personal interview during the holiday season at a Virgin Mega Store in Beirut.
Maya was in Beirut to spend the holiday season with her family. She normally resides in Egypt.
According to the London daily Elaph, Maya browed the store’s collection of CD’s by the legendary Lebanese singer Fairouze, and then walked with the Elaph reporter through downtown Beirut.
Maya’s new film, “Kharij Ala Al Qanoon” (Outlaw) was released during the Muslim holiday Eid Al Adha, along with her new television drama series and her new album.
In “Kharij Ala Al Qanoon” Maya plays the wife of Omar, played by Egyptian Kareem Abed Al Aziz. She meets ‘Omar’ when she moves from El Esam’ilyeh in Egypt to Cairo to work as an actor. She falls in love with him, but discovers that he is a drug dealer. She still agrees to marry him.
Maya says that she was chosen for the role through Kareem Abed Al Aziz. The two met when he came to congratulate her for the making of the film “Code 36.” Kareem later called director Ahmad Nader and told him he wanted to make a film with Maya.
Maya is still trying to establish herself as an actor in Egypt. “Kharij Ala Al Qanoon” grossed 7.1 million Egyptian Pounds in the first week, but Maya still awaits the reviews.
She takes everything that is written about her very seriously, according to Maya.
Maya will star in a new television drama series called “Wakalit Atyeh” (Atyeh’s Company), but she has yet to sign a contract.
Maya will release her new album in mid-January.
