According to the London daily Elaph, the Jordanian actress Mayes Hamdan who is residing in Egypt was chosen to replace the Egyptian actress Ghada Adel in the second part of the television drama series “Al Masrawyeh” (The Egyptian) after the second had turned down the role.
There was news that the Lebanese artist Nicole Saba was chosen for the role, yet the writer of the series Osama Okasha had objected to Nicole starring in the role. He stated that he doesn’t believe that Nicole’s looks suit the role.
On the other hand the producer of the series and the owner of the company “Arab Screen” Mahmoud Shmayes announced that Mayes was nominated for the role because looks are more suitable to play the role of “Nowara” who has Turkish roots. “Al Masrawyeh” is written by Osama Anwar Okasha, directed by Ismail Abed Al Hafeth. The series stars Mamdouh Abed Al Aleem, Samiha Ayoub and Abed Al Rahman Abu Zahrah.
On similar grounds, Mayes announced that she won’t see the first part of the drama series “Al Masrawyeh”, because she doesn’t want to be affected by Ghada Adel’s character in the series. She refused to be compared to Ghada Adel and she is not trying to be another copy of her. She stressed that she wants to play the role with her own personality and she will try to do her best in acting a good and effective role. Mayes was over whelmed when she was chosen for the part, because it is a dream come true working with Ismail Abed Al Hafeth and Osama Anwar Okasha.
Ismail Abed Al Hafeth had scheduled the filming of the series to take place at the mid of January in a village that was specially made for the filming of the series.
