His name is Michael Caine, but today, November 17, 2000, he was knighted Sir Maurice Micklewhite. Not a lot of people know that the actor still uses his real name, reported The London Times

"I was named after my father and I was knighted in his name because I love my father," the two-time Oscar winner said.

"When I go home, I leave Michael Caine the film star with the costumes, the wigs and the props in the studio."

But would he be known as Sir Maurice or Sir Michael? "I'm both, but I will use Sir Michael Caine," he said.

Sir Michael, who has starred in films such as Alfie and Get Carter, was accompanied at the Palace investiture by his wife, Shakira, and daughters Dominique and Natasha

After the ceremony, the family went to Harry's Bar for a celebratory lunch with close friends.

Sir Michael owns seven restaurants, six in London and one in Miami, that he runs as a "hobby". – Albawaba.com.
