Michael Hutchence’s Mother Points Finger at Son’s ‘Murderer’
The family of Michael Hutchence, the late INXS lead singer who was found hanged in an Australian hotel room in 1997, has said that it blames his lover, recently deceased Paula Yates, for the singer’s suicide, reported ABC online.
Patricia Glassop, Hutchence’s mother, and his half-sister Tina Hutchence told the UK television show This Morning that Hutchence was not in love with Yates and did not want to marry her.
“Michael never wanted to marry [Yates], and he told her that up front,” said Glassop. “She knew that he was never going to marry.”
Glassop said Yates had repeatedly threatened to kill herself and to “take [Hutchence and Yates’ daughter, Heavenly Hiraani Tiger Lily], with her.” She said her son had become more depressed during his time with Yates and had been planning to end the relationship. “He did not like what he had become… He changed with Paula.”
Yates, a television host and the former wife of Bob Geldof, was found dead in her London home in September. Geldof was granted temporary custody of Tiger Lily after Yates’ death.
The rock star’s half-sister Tina said Michael was taking antidepressant drugs and sought help for depression in the months leading up to his death.
“He became terribly depressed,” she said. “For the last two and a half years of his life, he was a very unhappy person and he got worse and worse.” – Albawaba.com.
