Mohammad Muneer returns to the big screen after 7 years
Egyptian singer Muhammad Muneer has been away from the cinema for over seven years, having decided to dedicate his time to his music career. The last film “Al Maseer” (Destiny) he took part in was by prominent Egyptian director Yousef Shahin.
According to the London based daily, Al Sharq Al Awsat, after the singer reached his 25th year in the entertainment business, he decided to enter the acting world once more in the new film “Dunia” (World), which is written and directed by Joe Sileen Saab. In the film, Mohammad portrays the role of a person who is in love with poetry and singing. Eventually the young man meets a young lady, played by Egyptian actress Hanan Turk, who leaves her family to follow her dream of dancing and musical performances in Cairo.
Muneer stressed that this film, which is his comeback to the cinema, adds a lot to his career, and through it he is performing a role that is very close to his character in real life. The film will include actual songs by the singer and is scheduled to begin shooting scenes in the very near future.
Recently, Muneer celebrated the 25th anniversary of his singing career at an event attended by over 4 thousand people all wanting to share the special moment with the singer. The event took place in the heart of Cairo-Egypt, and once the singer appeared on stage, the crowd stood and began clapping and cheering him on for over 15 minutes.
Muneer thanked everyone for attending the celebrating stressing that they are the reason behind his success. He began talking about his journey throughout his career, and how he had struggled to be where he is today. Muneer sang a collection of his old and new songs, as a way of showing his appreciation to everyone who made a difference in his career.
Muneer has recently released his new album "Ahmar Shafaif" (Red Lips) which consists of eight songs written by prominent poets. Munir had decided on the release date after an emergency meeting he held at his home with a member of the board of directors for Alam Al Fan music Production Company, which manages all his albums.
Mohammad believes that his new tape is shaking the music industry because it introduces a mixture of old and new styles of singing in one. Munir also added that the songs in his album harmoniously come in a sequence to tell a story. – Albawaba.com
