Mohammed Muneer establishes a new school for singing
Famous Egyptian singer Mohammed Muneer has his own style in singing which is not matched by any other singer or style that we know. He is so unique that you can not find any resemblance between him and any other singer. Muneer sang old songs that all Arabs used to hear them all the time, but when he did them they did not look like any thing heard before. He creates his own influence on the song that makes it seem that one is hearing it for the first time.
According to the London based daily, Al Sharq Al Awsat, Mohammed is a new phenomenon in the world of Arab singing, and has decided to create his own school of singing matching the great school of the Lebanese Rahbani brothers with Fairouz.
Recently, a drunken man managed to pass through security guards and get on the stage while Muneer was singing and started punching him while knocking him face down to the ground. A state of panic went through the audience while security managed to arrest the doer and dragged him to the police station.
The incident took place on April 30, 2004 while Munir was holding a concert at the pyramids part of a promotional campaign for Egypt to host the 2010 soccer Tournament. Sources revealed that the man ,who jumped all of a sudden onto the stage and started beating up the singer, was drunk and said that he loved Mohammed Muneer and his intentions were to kiss him. The man was bailed out later and was accused of drinking in public place after Muneer refused to file charges and accuse him of assault.
Munir revealed to the newspaper that he never saw the man before and that he was not targeted by this assault. The real target was the reputation of Egypt in front of the FIFA committee who is expected to give a decision about hosting the country of the soccer Tournament.
Muneer has been away from the cinema for over seven years, having decided to dedicate his time to his music career. The last film “Al Maseer” (Destiny) he took part in was by prominent Egyptian director Yousef Shahin. After the singer reached his 25th year in the entertainment business, he decided to enter the acting world once more in the new film “Dunia” (World), which is written and directed by Joe Sileen Saab. In the film, Mohammad portrays the role of a person who is in love with poetry and singing. Eventually the young man meets a young lady, played by Egyptian actress Hanan Turk, who leaves her family to follow her dream of dancing and musical performances in Cairo. – Albawaba.com
