Like Morsi like Assad: The cry of Syrian celebs
Former Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi has been ousted by his people this week. Syrian celebs have welcomed the news by congratulating Egyptians on their successful revolution, and prayed for the same fate for Syrian President Bashar Al Assad.
The Syrian revolution has been ongoing for over two years now, with hundreds of thousands of Syrians being killed, and millions displaced as refugees in neighboring countries.
According to Sayidaty.net, Syrian actor Jamal Suliman was thrilled at hearing news of Morsi's ousting, and has written this status on his FB page:
“I am now filming the scenes of my new drama and the entire cast and crew have gone out to the streets and cried out loud “Praise Egypt,” and I say “Praise Egypt” with them and praise Syria too. May democracy be brought to the whole region and for everyone to live freely, with all my respect to the Egyptian people and their insistency on achieving the goals they set out to achieve. Respect to the Egyptian army and all scholars and everyone who stood by their beliefs."
Another actress joining in the celebrations was Syrian Kinda Alloush. The actress was Facebooking from Egypt, saying: “My love Egypt, my love Egypt, oh Egypt, a million congratulations and God willing Syria will have the same fate.”
Kinda's husband was on the same page, as his FB status was similar to Kinda's, where he expressed his extreme joy and respect for the Egyptian people, and prayed that the Syrian revolution will be just as successful.
Many other Syrian celebrities like Waad Al Bahri and Nadine Tahsin Bek also wrote statements congratulating Egyptians on their victory.
Congrats Egypt, and our prayers are with you Syria.
