Muna Shalabi ecstatic about her first leading role in a film
Egyptian actress Muna Shalabi has proven her capabilities as an actress through taking part in many different cinematic and TV works that found great success among viewers. The actress has announced that she has finally been chosen by director Othman Abu Laban for her first leading role in a new film "Kawalees" (Backstage), which is to begin filming in the upcoming few days.
According to the UAE based daily, Al Bayan, Muna revealed that the new film will be the first directing experience for Othman and has a budget of 5 million Egyptian pounds and is written by scenarist Mohammad Hifthi. The film revolves around a story of four good friends who suddenly encounter big problems that lead them to separate due to becoming overly jealous of one another.
Muna stressed that the film presents a new experience for her marking the first step in her journey to fame. She added that her role in the film is different from all the other roles she has so far played proving that she is able to take on such responsibilities.
Shalabi has resumed her acting career after recovering from an operation she underwent recently. Muna is currently shooting the scenes for her upcoming TV drama series "Al Banat" (The Girls) alongside Omar Al Hariri as well as a large number of prominent Egyptian actors in the very near future.
End of January, Muna finished shooting scenes for the movie that is out in Egypt “Kalim Mama” (Talk to Mother) that revolves around how the strong bond of two young couple helps them overcome the hardest obstacle which is the refusal of their bond by their families. The love they share helps them conquer all barriers and transform the outburst of hatred from their families to love.
The script is taken from Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet” but changed into a satirical comedy that suits the modern era. The film includes a large number of musical scenes.
Ablaa Kamil, Hassan Husni, Dina, Ahmad Zaher, and Maha Ahmad costar in the film. The script is written by screenwriter Mustafa Al Sabaky, and directed by Ahmad Awad. The film is currently being screen in cinema houses across Cairo. –Albawaba.com
