Director Ali Ragab began the first phase of filming the new movie “Khalti Faranca” (Aunt Franca), which marks Egyptian actress Muna Zaki's first leading role. The first scenes of the film have been shot after a postponement that lasted over three weeks due to the US-led war on Iraq.
According to the Egyptian daily, Al Ahram, Muna Zaki had decided to accept the role in a new film alongside Egyptian actress Abla Kamil, in an attempt to come out of the depression caused by reoccurring problems with her husband Ahmad Hilmi.
The new film revolves around two orphaned sisters from a poor neighborhood who struggle to survive despite a number of hardships they encounter. They are taken into the care of their aunt who eventually causes problems for the two sisters.
