Murad Munir Showcases Writing Talents in ‘Insane Film’ Screenplay
Egyptian director Murad Munir has decided to keep away from the stage until further notice and take a detour into screenwriting by providing the script for two upcoming works, according to the daily Al Gomhuria.
Munir has recently wrapped up penning the script for the film Kan Yawm Hobbak (It Was Your Day of Love), to be directed by Khaled Yousef.
“There are many reasons for this decision, including my suffering after the direction of any work, particularly in recent days. I have been spurred to do so by the stance of Huda Wasfi towards the play A’elat Tout (Tout Family), which I was planning to produce along with the artist Ezzat Al A’laili. Despite the latter’s welcome and the good script, I was surprised when Wasfi said she was very busy.
"I personally do not like to be on the waiting list, and so I preferred to distance myself from this line and move to another area,” Munir told the daily.
“Writing is not new to me, since I've written many, many TV series scripts. My latest script lay unused until an artist friend read it and encouraged me to submit it to a production company. So director Khaled Yousef is gearing up to direct my cinema debut in the film Kan Yawm Hubbak, which is going to be a joint production between Shua’a Co. and the Media Production City,” added Munir.
The film explores a love story between a young man and a girl that is cut short by pressures from a variety of sources, including economic ones.
Munir has also wrapped up the script of another film entitled Film Magnoun (Insane Film), which is a comedy directed by Sherif Arafah. The movie is about a film star and the stages he passes through, in addition to the media's role in making him famous.
Munir has directed many important plays, including Yawmiyyat Makhmourah (Drunken Diaries) and Raas Al Mamlouk Jaber (Mamlouk Jaber Head) - Albawaba.com
