Get lost in the wonderful world of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Summer Festival this August
Part of Bibliotheca Alexandrina Summer Festival, the BA Chamber Orchestra will perform several compositions from well-known movies and musicals on Saturday 30 August.
The evening will open with an overture from Andrew Lloyd Weber's The Phantom of the Opera, followed by several songs from famous musicals arranged for the orchestra.
The list includes musicals such as My Fair Lady, The Sound of Music, Cabaret, The Music Man, Fiddler on the Roof, Beauty and the Beast, West Side Story, and Cats, along with well-known animated musical adventure films, Lion King and Aladdin, among other gems.
The concert is part of the 12th BA Summer Festival, which opened with a concert by renowned Egyptian composer and pianist Omar Khairat. A number of independent bands take part in the festival, paralleled by concerts by the BA Chamber Orchestra. During the day time, film screenings of Egyptian women filmmakers are taking place in the Bibliotheca's auditorium.
The festival will end on 2 September with Les Petits Chats on the closing night.
