Last week, renowned Egyptian star Nabila Ebaid spent five days in Beirut as part of her ongoing search for an inspirational story for her future projects on both the small and big screen.
The daily Kuwait Al Rai Al Aam newspaper has reported that the star was the guest of honor at the Lebanese northern city of Tripoli, where she received an award from its Art Society. After her tour in Tripoli, Obaid accepted an invitation from the Egyptian ambassador to Lebanon, Hussein Dirar.
“My visits to Lebanon have become routine ones, just like visiting home. I don’t consider myself a guest in Lebanon any more,” Obeid commented on her visit to Lebanon. She described her young appearance and constant shine as a divine boon, “I am always confident, satisfied and have a lot of faith leaving things to God. I love people, and it always shows on my face,” she said.
The star confirmed that true faith is something she mostly loves in her character, “I am a strong believer. I performed Umra 9 times and I’m willing to do it again and again as long as I live. I am fully aware of those who mix between true belief and piety facets. I see myself an advocate of true faith and belief, which are more sustainable, consolidating and deeper.”
In response to the new acting phenomena people are seeing recently on the big screen, Obaid said that she is not keeping in pace with the new artistic developments. “I watch what is going on and do not want to downplay the work of anybody but we need to review many of our affairs. One success prompted producers to try again and again. Things are now going back to the right track and the year 2003 will witness a new phenomenon in Cairo that will be different from that which prevailed over the past years.”
As for her ongoing travel, which has made her appear like a businesswoman, Obaid said, “I wish I could do business but I am only an artist. Many of my colleagues failed in business, as most of them did not know how to mange any. But to live a decent life one needs another business besides acting because nothing lasts for ever.”
Concluding, the star denied that her new series “Al Amma Noor” (Aunt Noor) would be aired during the forthcoming fasting month of Ramadan, but rather for 2003. “I am very happy to work with both director Adul Aasar and writer Mahmoud Abu Zaid. We all have a very unique piece of work that will mark a good start on the small screen for me.” – Albawaba.com
