Egyptian star Nabila Obeid threatened to file a lawsuit yesterday against the distribution company of her latest movie "Qasaqees Warak" (Paper Scraps), if the company did not work on screening the movie in Eid Al Fitr.
The London-based daily, Al Sharq Al Awsat, reported on Thursday that the star asked the company, which name was not revealed, to screen the movie in 50 theatres in the upcoming Eid Al Fitr holiday. "The movie is taking long on the shelves. I finished shooting the movie two years ago, and I'm afraid it would never see the light again," said Obaid.
Obeid along with the movie's director, Said Marzooq, decided to file the lawsuit, if the company did not apply to their demand. The movie, which was shot in Alexandria, also star Egyptian Hussein Fahmi.
Late last month, Obeid spent five days in Lebanon as part of her ongoing search for an inspirational story for her future projects on both the small and big screen. The star was the guest of honor at the Lebanese northern city of Tripoli, where she received an award from its Art Society.
In a press conference held during her visit to Lebanon, Obeid described her young appearance and constant shine as a divine boon. The star confirmed that true faith is something she mostly loves in her character, adding that she performed Umra 9 times.
In response to one of the questions, the star denied that her new series "Al Amma Noor" (Aunt Noor) would be aired during the forthcoming fasting month of Ramadan, but rather for 2003. "I am very happy to work with both director Adul Aasar and writer Mahmoud Abu Zaid. We all have a very unique piece of work that will mark a good start on the small screen for me." – Albawaba.com
