Nabila Obeid's conceit takes her to the misery of failure
Egyptian actress Nabila Obeid is currently experiencing a severe case of depression over the failure of her latest film “Qasaqees Al Ushaq” (Tales of Lovers), and the very low profit it is bringing in. it was revealed that the film will most probably be removed from all cinema houses for the fact that hardly anyone is going to see it.
The first shock was during the private screening of the film before its official release in which the writer and all the actors starring in the film, especially Egyptian prominent actor Hussein Fahmi did not attend, and only Nabila was present and made the instance appear as normal as possible. The film had only made 12 thousand Egyptian pounds in its first week of screening despite the huge advertising campaign Nabila made trying to defend her reasons for continuing in her career as notable actress and film producer.
According to the Saudi based daily, Al Watan, the writer of the film had requested that his name be removed from all the advertised posters for the film, saying that he had originally wrote a script for a film that was to last 110 minutes but was surprised to find out that a large portion was deleted and only 75 minutes remained. Hussein Fahmi had also surprised everyone with the same request of removing his name from all the posters and ads for the film. Hussein revealed that the film has experienced this kind of failure due to the insistency of Nabila to make alterations to the script and scenes and demanding that her name be placed above everyone else, resulting in an incomplete story and film.
Obeid had previously announced that her new film will be released throughout cinema houses in Egypt, and will surely be a satisfying experience for viewers. Nabila said that the film features an interesting story with alluring scenes and a dash of comedy mixed in. she added that a lot of daring was put into the film in terms of specific scenes, which she feels will be most attractive to people.
Nabila noted that the film is a light story that revolves around a dancer who intends to end her active career that includes a number of intimate relationships with men, in which she would take a piece of fabric from everyman’s shirt she is intimate with until she creates a shawl. After her shawl is complete she realizes that the lifestyle she has been leading has become dull and can not be tolerated any longer.
The dancer begins to feel the need to be loved by only one man and to be in a serious relationship away from the deception. While on a vacation the dancer meets the love of her life played by the prominent Egyptian actor Hussein Fahmi and so begins their tale.
Nabila had thought that this film would be the ultimate test for her and her cinematic career will depend on it, hoping to enter the summer competition of films and praying that her audience would not let her down. She had also hoped that the hot and intimate scenes written by Waheed Hamid and daringly directed by Said Marzouq would surely help her succeed. -Al Bawaba.com
