Nadia al Gundi Plays Dancer Badia’a’s Role
Egyptian film star Nadia al Gundi accepted to play the role as the renowned dancer Badia’a Massabni in the film The Night Queen scripted and directed by Ahmed Maher.
“Badia’a Massabni is one of the characters I have been dreaming of for a long time. But I did not find neither a project about her nor a script was offered to me on her life despite her rich long drama and humanitarian career. She was a star among the Egyptian art milieu stars in the first half of the twentieth century,” al Gundi told the daily al Sharq al Awsat.
She indicated her willingness to have the script ready in a short time so as to begin shooting the film during the summer months in order to have time to screen it during the forthcoming Fiter Feast.
