Nadia Lutfi Abandons Series A Few Weeks Before Release
Egyptian actress Nadia Lutfi put an Egyptian production company in a tight spot when she decided to suddenly withdraw from her starring role in an upcoming Ramadan series.
Following many weeks of rehearsals and preparations, and only a few weeks short of the Ramadan season, the actress cancelled her agreement with the producers of Qalbi Laisa Fi Jaiby (My Heart isn’t In My Pocket).
According to Al Sharq El Awsat newspaper, Lutfi had asked for the full script of the series so that she can “truly live with the character she plays.”
However, nobody complied.
In fact, the actress received only the first few episodes of the screenplay, which is an adaptation of a novel by famous author Ihsan Abdul Qaddous.
Consequently, Lutfi found herself forced to withdraw from the show “out of respect for her history as an actress and for her artistic integrity,” said the London based daily.
Meanwhile, producers for the series are finding it very difficult to find a replacement.
Actress Hind Roustom has already declined the role, stating that she does not intend to come out of her 20 year retirement, especially since she has just gotten over a bout with the flu.
Next up in line for the role is actress Madiha Yusri.
Director Ahmad Fathallah is currently undergoing negotiations with the star.
Those who have retained their contract with the series include Athar El Hakim and Samir Sabri. – Albawaba.com.
