After returning home from the June 7-17 Shanghai Film Festival, Egyptian actor Hussein Fahmi will try to reach an agreement with actress Najlaa Fathi and screenwriter Atef Bishai on the script and filming dates for Qissat Hubb Haqiqiyyah (Real Love Story).
“The film is a romantic comedy which I hope will restore the lost romance to the Egyptian cinema industry. I’ll play a handsome lawyer who has only one defect, which is being a whimsical playboy, a fact that creates problems between him and his wife,” Fahmi told Akhbar Al Yawm daily.
For her part, Fathi said the film “marks the return of comedy with a high standard of romance.
“We can say that the wife may overlook the whims of her husband in order to protect her family,” she added.
The film, directed by Samah Anwar, expands on the themes of several other works including Azzawjah 13 (Wife No. 13), Ah Min Hawwaa (Oh, Eve) and Mrati Mudeer A’m (My Wife the General Manager).
Award-winning Egyptian actor Omar Al Sharif was nominated for the role of the playboy character, but he bowed out, so the screenwriter modified the character to fit Fahmi - Albawaba.com
