Najwa Karam sceptical about renewing her contract with Rotana
After being absent for two years from participating in "Halla Febrayer" (Hello February) Festival, prominent Lebanese singer Najwa Karam held a concert on February alongside Fadel Shaker, Abdullah Ruweished, and Rabeh Sager. Najwa was so elegant and started the concert with a special song for the Kuwaiti fans and sung many of her hit songs finishing her concert by singing a specially made song for the Kuwaiti fans.
The concert was a great success, tickets were sold out four days before, and the concert was broadcasted live on Rotana channel where millions of her fans were able to watch their beloved singer.
Shortly after the concert Najwa had an interview with Rotana channel and refused to disclose the surprise she was hiding for her fans in Lebanon, the funny thing is that Rotana had aired some news about a solo song by Najwa criticizing the social and economical situation in Lebanon without realising that that was the surprise Najwa was hiding to her fans.
Answering a question about her new album Najwa asked the announcer, whom do you mean by we? Is it the fans or Rotana? This answer triggered rumours about Najwa not renewing her contract with Rotana and that she might change the production company.
Najwa is scheduled to travel to the United States in a joint tour with prominent Lebanese singer Wadee Al Safee. In the past months, Karam had vowed never to film any of her songs in the form of a music video, but it was revealed that the singer has just completed the shooting of a new clip for a new song under the direction of Saeed Al Marouq. Karam will the new hit single composed by Wisam Almeer, which tackles the economical and social conditions in Lebanon. The singer did not reveal why she decided to release a single song before launching her album.
Najwa's previous decision of not filming her songs came after the failure of her last music video for the song “Iw’a Itkoun Za’ilit” (I Hope Your are not Upset), which did not witness any interest among viewers or even herself.
Karam is in the process of preparing for her upcoming album, which is to be produced by Rotana Music Production Company, and has already chosen the songs after holding extensive work sessions with numerous composers and poets. The singer revealed that her new album will be ready for release by spring 2004. – Albawaba.com
